Canton's Creativity!

Meet the Ladies from Lea's Flower Patch...Lynne, Esther, and Ada - the three craft women of LEA- have combined their first initials to create Lea's Flower Patch. Lea's flowers are made from upcycled plates and decorations and add year-round color to any flower bed.
All three ladies have creative backgrounds ranging from quilting to fairy gardens. Inspired to display plates in a new and creative ways, Lea began creating their flowers as gifts three years ago. As the requests for gifts grew, so did the business. The ladies of LEA love nothing better than going on buying trips and trading plates to find the perfect combination! As for future goals with the company, the ladies see themselves gathered in the garage, comparing plates, and gossiping.
Lea's Flower Patch would like to invite you to add  some color to your winter flower beds, give Mom the perfect Mother's Day gift, and impress your Mother in law with your thoughtfulness.

Meet Marcia Hudgel from 3 Oms Batik Boutique...
I am a full time yoga teacher as well as batik artist & part-time writer living in  Cleveland Heights. I love life, people, music, nature & animals and really draw inspiration from all of these things whether making batik, teaching or writing. I have always loved batik & finally began to teach myself in the summer of 2014.
My inspiration is drawn from yoga, nature, animals, music, the mystical...connection.

How I got into my craft... I just really enjoyed making different batik designs on yoga pants, etc. My husband is an artist & was very encouraging and helpful. It's a great "new" outlet for me to tap into my creative spirit. It all was from my love of batik, and then I just kept playing around.

My design process is constantly evolving...I feel like every new design I try, I learn a new way to streamline the process. So, I guess it's still a work in progress.

My five year plan... I would really like 3 Oms Batik Boutique to have more of an online presence for sales & I still want to be vending at craft fairs.
The message behind my work is connection to the universe & all beings in it, including oneself. Oms Batik Boutique also donates $1 from each sale to charities that support human rights,  animal welfare & the environment.

Meet Michelle Rolka from Mom's Hope Soap...
A little bit about me. I currently work for Tesla Motors, Inc. as a Service Concierge in Lyndhurst Ohio.  This is a fully electric car that had been in the news a lot lately.  Working with luxury cars if fun but soaping is better.  I got involved in making soap and body products in order to make people feel good and produce a product that is kind and gentle to those that have delicate skin.   I began to read lots about soap and thinking I could do it, my adventure began.

About a year and a half ago my adult son and I planned this together for someone we love that has cancer.  It’s actually how we got our name “Mom’s Hope Soap LLC.”.   We managed to produce a Castile soap that worked well and was gentle enough for our family member.  We didn’t promise a miracle but she found comfort and her dried skin improved over time.  So to say that I have a talent here is just a little different than anyone else.  It is a talent forced by love.

I lost my father to cancer, and hope as he watches me from heaven he is happy with our sincere effort to help others be aware of the many different types of cancer that need to be eradicated.  Perhaps our small donations will make a difference.  In the meantime I hope to always offer comfort in words or products that I produce with love.

In five years we see ourselves expanding our product lines and having satellite studios in Los Angeles and Miami (where else would I go?).  We have thought about starting small classes to share our knowledge with others.
We currently make many different types of soap.  We also have wonderful scrubs, lotion/massage bars and our own Heavenly Lotion.  Some items are for the delicate and we have also branched out into some fun.  We have colors, fragrances and many shapes and sizes. Please, come by and check out our Donut Soap.  It’s a lot of fun.   We are known to produce customized products for many occasions as well as to beautify.  We currently are working on gift baskets as hostess gifts.

The message behind our work is that you are placed on a path for a reason and at some point it will be revealed to you.  Put your best foot forward and use the talents of love wisely.  Better yet, make sure to use your talents.

Meet the Creative Canton Crafters!

Meet Diane North from Weirdcraft...
Making jewelry is my passion. I started making bead necklaces and earrings, and quickly got interested in lampworking. I've made glass beads for 17 years, incorporating them into my jewelry. I developed an interesting in enameling recently, and have become obsessed with cutting up copper and playing with glass enamel colors in my kiln.
I got into the craft hobby when I took a bead stringing class in 1994. I've always had an interest in artwork, but didn't have a specialty until I started lampworking. I found that I love the heat and fire of glasswork and enameling. This will be my first Avant-Garde show!

I like taking a bunch of seemingly unrelated things, like a sheet of copper, some powdered glass, stone beads, and wire, to create something desirable. In terms of my creative process, I don't like to plan in advance under most circumstances. I like to work on the fly and some of my best work has been a surprise from the kiln. The message behind my work is do what you love and follow your heart.

Meet Katelyn Woodford from Soul Food Mafia...
I am the mom of four amazing little humans. I have a day job as the national director of sales for a cosmetic company. I am a designer and philanthropist who just wants to create cool stuff with cool people and make the world a better place for all of us to hangout in! Soul Food Mafia was launched in August of 2015, and this will be my first Avant-Garde show!
I got into the craft hobby after a vision that came to me in a meditation circle. It wasn't a tangible push to start creating, it was like this crazy force that I couldn't shake. I started designing and it turned out awesome. I had never designed a thing in my life. I believe the calling for my company has nothing to do with me. It's about the bigger purpose.
I'm inspired to create by the call to make the world a better place. I decided to start with creating a "good karma" business model so that our inspirations to do more were worked into the DNA of our brand. The way I execute this call is simply by designing t-shirts with witty sayings and graphics and inviting anyone advocating for peace to stand with us and wear our gear. The message behind my work is do more and be more. Change can start with a t-shirt!

Meet Mindi Coleman from Canine Confections...
My name is Mindi Coleman and I'm a full time police detective, wife, and dog mom! I started making homemade dog treats many years ago after I got a treat cookbook as a Christmas gift. Over the years, I have come up with versions of my own recipes.
In the past, I just made treats for my own fur babies and shared with friends and family. One day, someone said to me, "Why don't you sell your dog treats?" I've always said that when I retire I want to be a pet nanny and thought selling my treats would be a great complement to that! So, in 2014 I decided I would test the waters with selling my treats! This will be my first Avant-Garde show!
I enjoy making and selling my treats because they're healthy and dogs love them! I am all about making dogs happy!
