Meet the Creative Canton Crafters!

Meet Diane North from Weirdcraft...
Making jewelry is my passion. I started making bead necklaces and earrings, and quickly got interested in lampworking. I've made glass beads for 17 years, incorporating them into my jewelry. I developed an interesting in enameling recently, and have become obsessed with cutting up copper and playing with glass enamel colors in my kiln.
I got into the craft hobby when I took a bead stringing class in 1994. I've always had an interest in artwork, but didn't have a specialty until I started lampworking. I found that I love the heat and fire of glasswork and enameling. This will be my first Avant-Garde show!

I like taking a bunch of seemingly unrelated things, like a sheet of copper, some powdered glass, stone beads, and wire, to create something desirable. In terms of my creative process, I don't like to plan in advance under most circumstances. I like to work on the fly and some of my best work has been a surprise from the kiln. The message behind my work is do what you love and follow your heart.

Meet Katelyn Woodford from Soul Food Mafia...
I am the mom of four amazing little humans. I have a day job as the national director of sales for a cosmetic company. I am a designer and philanthropist who just wants to create cool stuff with cool people and make the world a better place for all of us to hangout in! Soul Food Mafia was launched in August of 2015, and this will be my first Avant-Garde show!
I got into the craft hobby after a vision that came to me in a meditation circle. It wasn't a tangible push to start creating, it was like this crazy force that I couldn't shake. I started designing and it turned out awesome. I had never designed a thing in my life. I believe the calling for my company has nothing to do with me. It's about the bigger purpose.
I'm inspired to create by the call to make the world a better place. I decided to start with creating a "good karma" business model so that our inspirations to do more were worked into the DNA of our brand. The way I execute this call is simply by designing t-shirts with witty sayings and graphics and inviting anyone advocating for peace to stand with us and wear our gear. The message behind my work is do more and be more. Change can start with a t-shirt!

Meet Mindi Coleman from Canine Confections...
My name is Mindi Coleman and I'm a full time police detective, wife, and dog mom! I started making homemade dog treats many years ago after I got a treat cookbook as a Christmas gift. Over the years, I have come up with versions of my own recipes.
In the past, I just made treats for my own fur babies and shared with friends and family. One day, someone said to me, "Why don't you sell your dog treats?" I've always said that when I retire I want to be a pet nanny and thought selling my treats would be a great complement to that! So, in 2014 I decided I would test the waters with selling my treats! This will be my first Avant-Garde show!
I enjoy making and selling my treats because they're healthy and dogs love them! I am all about making dogs happy!
